Each quadrant contains one of the four Evangelists' symbols: the eagle of John (upper left), the angel of Matthew (upper right), the lion of Mark (lower left), and the winged ox of Luke (lower right), each identified by its abbreviated Latin inscription — Joh, Mt, Mk, and Lk — in the field. The date 2001 is divided across the lower portion of the central motif.
