| 正面铭文 | REPUBLIK · ÖSTERREICH · 500 SCHILLING |
| 背面描述 | The reverse depicts a dynamic equestrian portrait of Prince Eugene of Savoy, shown in three-quarter view astride a prancing horse, dressed in full period military armour with flowing wig, sword at his side. The curved legend 'PRINZ EUGEN V.SAVOYEN' arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by the birth and death years '1663' at lower left and '1736' at lower right. The commemorative year '1986' appears in the lower exergual area, accompanied by the engraver's monogram 'TP' (Thomas Pesendorfer) to its right. The design is rendered in high relief with exceptional detail in the figure's armour, horse musculature, and harness, in the Baroque equestrian portrait tradition. |

Prince Eugene's military career is inseparable from Austrian fiscal history — his campaigns against the Ottomans and the French required sustained treasury expenditure that reshaped Habsburg taxation for decades. The 1986 issue falls within Austria's long-running commemorative silver program, which the mint used through the 1970s and 1980s to systematically honor figures central to Habsburg political and military identity.
Eugene died in 1736 leaving no heirs, and his entire estate — including the Belvedere palace complex — passed to the imperial crown.
