| Obverse description | Central field depicts a Romanesque-style relief scene of the Adoration of the Magi, with the Virgin Mary seated to the right holding the nimbed Christ Child, while a kneeling Magus presents a crown-shaped gift in the foreground and two standing figures flank the composition on either side. All figures are rendered with stylised drapery evoking medieval manuscript illumination. The legend REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH arcs along the upper periphery, with ANNO DOMINI 2000 appearing within an inner arc, and the denomination 500 SCHILLING curves along the lower border. Bullet-shaped separators punctuate the inscriptions throughout the rim. |
