500 Rupees - Specimen Traveller's Cheque - Bank of Baroda

Bank of Baroda launched its rupee-denominated traveller's cheque programme in the early 1980s as part of a broader push by Indian nationalised banks to compete with foreign-issued cheques that had long dominated the market. Specimen pieces from this series were produced for branch training and agency demonstration purposes — they were never intended for encashment and carry the SPECIMEN overprint specifically to prevent misuse during distribution to correspondent offices.

Cotton substrate and a watermark were the principal security measures, modest by contemporary international standards but consistent with RBI-regulated specifications for the instrument class at the time.
