Obverse description The right portion of the note is dominated by a fine intaglio portrait of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi ('Mahatma Gandhi'), with the Ashoka Lion Capital from the Sarnath Museum rendered as the state emblem at the lower right. The new Rupee symbol (₹), adopted in 2010, precedes the denomination numerals in the lower left area. Guilloche underprint patterns and multilingual denomination inscriptions fill the remaining field.
