Obverse description Central field features the traditional Nepalese royal cipher of King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, rendered as an ornate cruciform cartouche divided into four quadrants, each containing a segment of the king's name in Devanagari script. The four arms of the cross are flanked by auspicious Hindu symbols including a sun, conch shell, lotus, and ceremonial lamp. The honorific legend Sri Sri in Devanagari appears at the top of the design, and the Nepalese Sambat date 2049 is inscribed at the base.
