Obverse description Central cartouche composed of an ornate cruciform frame divided into four panels bearing the royal name and title of King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev in Devanagari script, with a trident symbol at the centre. The Nepali Samvat date 2049 appears at the foot of the design. Four traditional Hindu auspicious symbols — the sun, conch shell, lotus blossom, and club — are positioned in the four corners of the outer frame. A beaded border surrounds the entire design, with the honorific inscription श्री श्री appearing at the top of the field.

Reverse description Two boxers in mid-bout are depicted in high relief at the centre of the field, rendered in a dynamic naturalistic style. To the left stands a traditional Nepalese column statue of a deity on a tiered pedestal. The curved legend OLYMPIC GAMES 1992 arcs along the upper periphery within a beaded border. The denomination Rs 500 is inscribed in the lower centre field, with the country name NEPAL appearing at the bottom.
