Nepal's 500 Rupee notes of this series were issued under the amended Nepal Rastra Bank Act of 2002, which formally severed the central bank's operational ties to the palace — a significant shift in a country that abolished its monarchy entirely in 2008 when the 240-year-old Shah dynasty was voted out by the Constituent Assembly. Notes issued across this window therefore straddle that transition, though the series itself continued without interruption or reissue to mark the change of state.
Pick 66 is sometimes confused with the near-contemporary P#65 due to overlapping issue years and similar format.
