Reverse description The reverse is printed in purple on white paper with an elaborate guilloche border and ornamental corner pieces. The large denomination numeral '500' appears at upper left, with the Armenian state emblem in a circular frame at upper right. The central field is occupied entirely by a lengthy Armenian-language text setting out the terms and conditions of the state internal loan, arranged in numbered paragraphs, accompanied by a printed table of bond values. The lower margin carries the denomination legend ՀԻՆԳ ՀARՅUR ՌՈՒBLI on a tinted band.

Comments

Armenia's first sovereign banknote series, issued after independence from the Soviet Union, was printed under considerable logistical pressure — the country had no established printing infrastructure and relied on foreign contractors. The 500 Roubli sits in an transitional moment when Armenia was simultaneously running Soviet-era roubles and its own parallel issues before the dram replaced the rouble entirely in November 1993.

The "A" suffix on the Pick number denotes a signature variety, not a distinct emission — a distinction that trips up collectors working from incomplete checklists.
