| Reverse description | Central high-relief silver depiction of the Theotokos (Mother of God) of Barkalabava rendered in the traditional Hodegetria iconographic style, with the Virgin Mary shown in three-quarter bust holding the Christ Child on her left arm. The figures are executed in frosted silver relief against an elaborately gold-plated background of scrolling floral and foliate ornamentation in the manner of a gilded icon cover (riza). Cyrillic abbreviations for the names of Christ and the Mother of God appear in the upper corners in the Orthodox tradition. A gold-plated rectangular banner inscription along the lower edge reads БАРКАЛАБАЎСКАЯ, identifying the specific venerated icon. |
