The body of the note carries a lengthy text in small letterpress Cyrillic script specifying the issuing offices and redemption terms in gold coin, with the date 1895 года and a cashier's signature line printed below; the serial number appears at lower right. An ОБРАЗЕЦЪ (Specimen) perforation is punched across the centre of the note. |

The 500 Rouble notes of the Imperial State Bank from this period were among the highest denominations in regular circulation, placing them firmly in the hands of merchants, industrialists, and financial institutions rather than ordinary wage earners. The 1895 date coincides with Witte's currency reform program, which culminated in the gold standard adoption of 1897 — these notes were part of the transitional apparatus meant to stabilize confidence in paper before full convertibility was established.
Pick A76 is sparsely documented in most major references, and surviving examples are genuinely uncommon. The rarity owes something to deliberate withdrawal during the reform period itself.
