| Beschrijving voorzijde | The national coat of arms of the Yemen Arab Republic — a golden eagle displayed with wings spread, holding crossed rifles and a janbiya dagger — occupies the central field. The eagle is depicted in fine relief against a plain field. A circular Arabic legend surrounds the design, reading 'Central Bank of Yemen — Yemen Arab Republic' along the upper periphery, with the dual date '1401 - 1981' (Hijri and Gregorian) inscribed along the lower border. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Issued to mark the International Year of Disabled Persons, declared by the United Nations for 1981, this piece belongs to a category of commemorative gold issues produced by developing-nation central banks almost entirely for the collector export market — physical circulation was never the intention. Yemen Arab Republic (North Yemen) contracted these types through foreign minting intermediaries, a common arrangement for states without the domestic infrastructure to produce high-purity gold coinage independently.
The .917 fineness places it squarely in the 22-karat crown gold tradition.
