Reverse description The central vignette renders the Marlik Grail (Jaam-e Marlik) motif as a pair of confronted winged lions rearing on either side of a stylised Tree of Life, executed in fine intaglio line engraving after the ancient Iranian artefact. A circular guilloche rosette at lower left bears the numeral 500 with RIALS above, while the denomination is repeated in Persian numerals and script in all four corners of the interlocking geometric and floral lattice border in dark brown.
