Feijó never held the presidency — he served as regent during Brazil's turbulent Regency period of the 1830s, when the young Pedro II was deemed too young to rule. Commemorating him a full century later, in 1935, places this coin squarely within Getúlio Vargas's Estado Novo cultural project of reclaiming and reframing Brazilian historical figures for nationalist purposes.
The thin planchet variety is distinguished from its heavier counterpart by measurable weight reduction and the notably wider rim profile — a production variable that emerged from the Casa da Moeda adjusting its rolling and collar tooling mid-run.
