Reverse description The Imperial Arms of Brazil occupying the central field, consisting of a crowned shield bearing a celestial sphere encircled by a ring of nineteen stars upon a horizontally striated background, all set within an armorial surround. The shield is flanked by a wreath composed of coffee and tobacco branches, tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The Imperial Crown surmounts the composition at the top. The denomination 500 REIS is inscribed in large letters along the lower exergue, separated from the wreath by the coin's inner milled border.
