Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King Manuel II of Portugal, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair. The engraver's signature ALVES appears discreetly on the truncation of the neck. The circular legend around the periphery reads EMANVEL II PORTVG: ET ALGARB: REX, with the date 1910 positioned in the lower field beneath the portrait. The design is framed by a continuous beaded border.

Reverse description Central design features the crowned Royal Arms of Portugal within an ornate cartouche, flanked by two rampant lions as supporters. Two crossed cannons with cannonballs appear in the lower field, evoking the military theme of the Peninsular War centenary. The dates 1808 and 1814 flank a cross at the top of the shield, commemorating the span of the conflict. The circumferential legend CENTENARIO DA GUERRA PENINSULAR arcs around the upper portion of the field, while the denomination 500 REIS is inscribed along the lower rim. The composition is enclosed within a beaded border.
