Additional information

The Year of the Snake falls fifth in the twelve-year Chinese zodiac cycle, and the Royal Mint has issued lunar-themed collector pieces in this format since 2014 — part of a broader push into the Asian collector market that accelerated significantly after 2010. The 1005g fine silver format places this firmly in the Mint's "kilo" tier, which carries a premium partly justified by the technical difficulty of achieving satisfactory surface quality across a 100mm planchet in proof finish.

This is also the first Snake year issue to bear the effigy of Charles III.
