正面描述 Uncrowned, draped bust of King Charles III facing left, modelled by Martin Jennings, rendered in high relief with fine naturalistic detail. The peripheral legend reads CHARLES III · D · G · REX · F · D · 500 POUNDS · 2025 ·, with the engraver's initials MJ incuse below the truncation. The effigy fills the central field with sculptural depth, characteristic of the large-format proof presentation.

附加信息

The original Waterloo Medal — issued in 1816 and the first campaign medal awarded to every soldier present regardless of rank — was the direct bureaucratic ancestor of the modern British campaign medal system. The decision to award it uniformly, from Wellington's senior officers down to the private soldiers, was genuinely radical for its time and met with resistance from those who thought enlisted men unworthy of the same decoration as their superiors.

This piece is the final release in the Royal Mint's Waterloo Medal series, completing a collector program that serialized the medal's reverse design across multiple denominations and formats.
