| Obverse lettering | CHARLES III·D·G·REX·F·D·500 POUNDS·2023· (Translation: Charles the Third by the Grace of God King Defender of the Faith) |
| Reverse description | The central design, by John Bergdahl, features the quartered Royal Arms shield — displaying the lions of England, the lion of Scotland, and the Irish harp — surmounted by the Imperial State Crown and encircled by the Garter motto. Flanking the shield in ornate cartouches are the royal cypher of King Charles III (CIIIR, left) and the royal cypher of Queen Camilla (right), each crowned. Surrounding the central composition are the national floral emblems of the United Kingdom: the Tudor rose of England (upper left), the thistle of Scotland (upper right), the shamrock of Ireland (lower left), and the leek of Wales (lower right), all interwoven with elaborate acanthus scrollwork. The outer legend reads the full coronation inscription and date, with the Garter motto arching across the mid-field of the shield. |
