| 正面描述 | The central field depicts two architectural renderings of the Central Bank of the Philippines buildings: the original mid-century structure in the upper portion and the modern Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas complex in the lower foreground, rendered in fine relief against a mirror-polished proof field. The circumferential legend reads REPUBLIKA NG PILIPINAS along the upper arc in bold raised letters. The denomination 500 PISO appears along the lower arc, flanked on either side by a raised five-pointed star serving as a decorative separator. |

Issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, though the central bank's actual history is more complicated than a clean 1949 founding date suggests — the original Central Bank of the Philippines was established under Republic Act 265 signed by Elpidio Quirino in June 1948, with operations beginning in January 1949. The institution was reconstituted entirely under a new charter in 1993, making the 1999 commemoration something of a selective anniversary count.
