| 背面描述 | The Universidad de la República building occupies the left portion of the note as a detailed architectural vignette in green and blue intaglio, its neoclassical facade rendered with fine line engraving; to the right, a vignette of an open book framed by a laurel wreath appears against a multicoloured guilloche background. The denomination QUINIENTOS is repeated in a dark panel at lower centre, with the printer's imprint THOMAS DE LA RUE AND COMPANY LIMITED visible at the lower right margin. |

| 备注 |
The 500 Pesos Uruguayos denomination was introduced as part of Uruguay's post-hyperinflation redenomination — the 1993 reform replaced the Nuevo Peso at a rate of 1,000 to 1, effectively lopping three zeros from the old currency. This note, issued across the second half of the 1990s, circulated during a period of relative monetary stability that followed years of severe erosion in purchasing power.
De La Rue's production run for this series is unremarkable technically, though the security thread specification was fairly minimal for the period — adequate for domestic circulation but not representative of the firm's more sophisticated work elsewhere at the time.
