Obverse description Central vignette with portrait of Salvador Cisneros Betancourt, framed by fine guilloche underprint with denomination numerals and lettering. The note is printed in green and red; serial numbers appear in red, as does the seal of the General Treasury positioned to the left.

Reverse description Entirely engraved in red, the reverse is dominated by the Cuban coat of arms at center within an ornate guilloche medallion, flanked by large denomination numerals '500' in each corner and at mid-left and mid-right. Scrollwork cartouches frame the design, with 'QUINIENTOS PESOS' in bold lettering along the lower border and the redemption clause in a panel beneath. The imprint 'AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY.' appears at the bottom margin.
