Obverse description Printed in brown on cream paper, the obverse centres on an oval portrait vignette of a male figure in early 19th-century dress, with an allegorical female figure of the Republic holding a liberty pole and shield to the left, all set over an elaborate guilloche underprint. The Argentine national coat of arms is positioned above the central denomination text block, with the numeral '500' in an ornate cartouche at right.
