| 正面描述 | Unilateral note printed in dark brown on plain paper, with an ornate engraved border of scrollwork and rosette corner devices. The upper portion carries the bank's full title in elaborate script — "Banco Nacional de las Provincias Unidas del Río de la Plata" — flanking a central arms vignette, with the denomination "500 PESOS" at upper left and right in bold letterpress. Below, a promise-to-pay clause in cursive reads "Promete pagar al portador a la vista QUINIENTOS PESOS en Moneda Metálica," followed by the place and date "Buenos Ayres, 18--," and the legend "POR LOS DIRECTORES Y ACCIONISTAS," with manuscript signature lines for Contador and Presidente. |

The Banco Nacional de las Provincias Unidas del Río de la Plata had a turbulent institutional life — founded in 1826, it was liquidated in 1836 under pressure from the Rosas government, which was ideologically hostile to centralized banking. Notes issued under the PS#376 series therefore postdate the bank's formal dissolution, meaning this 500 Pesos circulated under a successor liquidation authority still clearing old obligations, not under an actively functioning bank.
At 500 Pesos, this is among the higher denominations of the series — practical for merchant transactions, rarely handled by ordinary porteños.
