The 1931 Spanish 500 Pesetas was printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. in New Malden during a period when the newly proclaimed Second Republic had inherited the financial infrastructure — and outstanding print contracts — of the Primo de Rivera dictatorship it replaced. The Republic issued its own notes but often kept existing designs in circulation, a pragmatic concession to continuity over symbolism.
This particular item is cataloged as a replica. Genuine P-84 examples are scarce in high grade given the disruptions of the Civil War years immediately following issue.
