| 背面描述 | Facing bust portrait of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, rendered in high relief with fine detail showing his characteristic beard and bow tie. The portrait is framed by a wreath of laurel branches extending from the lower left and lower right, meeting at the top of the coin. The dates '1861' and '1865', denoting the years of his presidency, appear to the left and right of the portrait respectively. The legend 'ABRAMO LINCOLN' is inscribed in bold letters along the lower border, with a central dot separating the two words. |

Equatorial Guinea gained independence from Spain in October 1968, and within two years the new government under Francisco Macías Nguema had contracted a Swiss firm to produce a series of gold commemorative issues — largely aimed at the international collector market rather than domestic circulation. The Lincoln piece was part of that broader foreign-figure series, an odd collecting vehicle for a country with no historical connection to the United States.
Macías Nguema would be convicted of genocide and executed by firing squad in 1979, having destroyed much of the country's economic and institutional infrastructure in the interim. These early issues predate that collapse by less than a decade.
