Obverse description Central vignette of the god Mercury, identifiable by his winged helmet, positioned to the left alongside a globe and caduceus, with a depiction of coins and cash to the right. The composition is rendered in fine intaglio engraving with intricate line work framing the principal allegory. Denomination and issuer inscriptions appear alongside the date and three manuscript signature lines for the Governor, Auditor, and Cashier.

Reverse description Two allegorical female figures rendered in fine intaglio engraving occupy the central vignette: one seated to the left, draped in classical robes, gestures toward a large circular cartouche flanked by a decorative urn and a barrel, while a second figure to the right reclines amid sheaves of harvested wheat. The denomination numeral "500" and the word "PESETAS" appear on a panel at centre, below which a foliate banner bears the issuer's name. The composition is signed in the lower margin by the designer Villegas and the engraver B. Maura.
