Aanvullende informatie

Issued under the Banco Nacional Ultramarino's final years of note-issuing authority before the Monetary Authority of Macao assumed full control, this piece was struck ahead of the 1999 handover of Macau from Portuguese to Chinese administration — a transition that fundamentally restructured the territory's monetary institutions. The lunar gold series of which this is part ran through the final stretch of Portuguese Macau, making the later issues particularly tied to that political deadline.

The .917 fineness places it in the traditional 22-karat standard long favored for bullion coinage in Asian markets.
