Obverse description Central depiction of the iconic façade of the Ruins of St. Paul's Church (São Paulo), rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished proof field. The ornate Baroque stonework of the church front is shown in fine architectural detail. Twelve small five-pointed stars are arranged in a ring around the central motif. The legend 'MACAU' arcs across the upper field in bold Latin capitals, with the date '1995' positioned along the lower field beneath the church façade.

Reverse description A finely detailed figure of a pig, rendered in high relief at the centre of the mirror-polished proof field, facing left with naturalistic modelling of its form. To the left of the pig, the Chinese characters '伍佰' (meaning 'five hundred') are inscribed vertically, while to the right the characters '澳門' (Macau) appear in two vertical columns. The denomination '500' is inscribed in the lower central field beneath the pig, with 'PATACAS' arcing below it along the bottom rim in bold Latin capitals.
