Macau hosted its first Formula 3 Grand Prix in 1954, and the race became one of the few street circuits outside Europe to attract genuine factory-backed teams during the sport's formative decades. By 2003, the event had run for fifty years — this coin marks that anniversary, not the inaugural race itself. The "1st World" designation in the name refers to the race's elevation to FIA World Cup status, which occurred in 1983.
