Reverse description The reverse design is inspired by an ancient silver coin of Evagoras I, King of Salamis (c. 411–374 BC). A figure of Herakles (Hercules) is depicted seated in three-quarter view upon a rocky outcrop, over which his Nemean lion's skin is draped. He holds a cornucopia (horn of plenty) in his left arm, rendered in archaic Greek artistic style. The denomination 500 appears in the lower field in large numerals.
