Obverse description The obverse features the Weimar Republic eagle displayed with wings spread, head turned to the right, rendered in a bold, stylised Art Deco manner attributed to designer Josef Wackerle. The eagle stands with talons outstretched against a plain field. A circular legend reading EINIGKEIT UND RECHT UND FREIHEIT (Unity and Justice and Freedom) runs along the upper periphery, flanked by a beaded border near the rim.

Reverse description The reverse displays the denomination 500 MARK in large, prominent numerals and lettering at the centre of the field, with the date 1923 below. The circular legend DEUTSCHES REICH arcs around the upper periphery. The mint mark letter appears at the bottom of the field, flanked by small decorative foliate ornaments. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border, giving the reverse a clean, typographic character typical of the hyperinflationary emergency coinage of the period.
