| Obverse description | Yellow-green and dark blue letterpress note with a fine guilloche underprint across the entire field. The denomination 'Fünfhundert Mark' is rendered in large, elaborate blackletter script occupying the central register, set against a vignette of Hamburg's coat of arms flanked by allegorical figures. To the lower left, a circular seal of the Finanzdeputation with the Hamburg castle motif; to the lower right, a circular 'MARK' cartouche with guilloche work. The serial number prefix letter appears in red at upper left, with the remaining digits in black. Two facsimile signature lines are present at the foot, attributed to the Finanzdeputation and the Hauptstaatskasse respectively, with the issue date 'Hamburg, den 28. Sept. 1922' centred between them. |
