Mô tả mặt sau A full-bodied goitered gazelle (Gazella subgutturosa) stands in profile facing right at centre, depicted in fine relief upon a naturalistic ground line. Stylised desert vegetation — including tall flowering plants and bare trees — frames the composition on either side. The scientific name appears as a curved legend along the upper field, with the denomination '500 MANAT' to the upper right. The date '1996' is inscribed to the lower left, and the Turkmen word 'KEYIK' (gazelle) appears along the lower rim.

Thông tin bổ sung

Turkmenistan's early commemorative silver program launched almost immediately after independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, with the Central Bank moving quickly to establish a national numismatic identity. The goitered gazelle — Gazella subgutturosa — is native to the Karakum Desert and had been a protected species in the Turkmen SSR since the 1960s; its appearance on this issue reflects genuine conservation policy, not ornamental choice.

The .925 specification and 28.28g weight align this squarely with the global proof coin standard of the period, with production almost certainly contracted to a foreign mint given Turkmenistan's lack of domestic striking capacity in the mid-1990s.
