Reverse description The bimetallic reverse features a central disc bearing the coat of arms of the Polizia di Stato (Italian State Police) at lower centre, flanked by the commemorative dates 1947 and 1997 marking the fiftieth anniversary of the Traffic Police corps. Above the arms, within a square cartouche, appears a centaur archer in left profile — the heraldic symbol of the Polizia Stradale — accompanied by the Rome Mint mark R. The engraver's signature appears to the right of the arms. The outer acmonital ring bears the denomination L. 500 at top, the motto SUB LEGE LIBERTAS at bottom, the legends POLIZIA STRADALE and POLIZIA DI STATO, and schematic road-map motifs at either side.
