Aanvullende informatie

Italy held the rotating presidency of the European Economic Community Council in the second half of 1990, a tenure that coincided with one of the most turbulent moments in modern European history — German reunification occurred in October of that year, forcing the EEC into immediate political and economic recalibration. The Italian presidency was instrumental in advancing the Intergovernmental Conferences that would ultimately produce the Maastricht Treaty the following year.

KM#137 was struck for collectors rather than circulation, though the .835 silver composition places it within the long-running Italian commemorative silver series that stretches back to the republic's early issues.
