| Obverse description | Bimetallic coin with an aluminium-bronze centre set within a stainless steel ring. The centre depicts the three medieval towers of San Marino — Guaita, Cesta, and Montale — rising from a rocky outcrop atop Mount Titano, surmounted by a mural crown, rendered in the sculptural style of engraver Angelo Biancini whose signature appears in the lower left of the centre field. The outer ring bears the legend REPUBBLICA DI S. MARINO arching across the upper portion, with LIBERTAS inscribed at the base flanked by stylised laurel sprigs. |

| Additional information |
San Marino had been issuing FAO-themed coinage since the early 1970s, participating in the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization's global campaign that encouraged member states to dedicate collector issues to hunger and agricultural development. By 1982, these pieces were produced almost exclusively for the numismatic market — circulation was nominal at best, and most examples survive in original packaging.
