Obverse description Laureate and turreted left-facing female effigy allegorically representing the Italian Republic, her crown composed of a towered castle in the civic tradition. The legend 'REPUBBLICA ITALIANA' arcs along the upper rim, while the engraver's signature 'E. L. FRAPICCINI' appears in small characters along the lower rim. The portrait is rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and drapery consistent with mid-twentieth-century Italian medallic art.
