Obverse description The obverse displays the three towers of San Marino — the Guaita, Cesta, and Montale — rising from Monte Titano, each tower surmounted by an ostrich feather plume, which are traditional symbols of the republic. To the lower left, a small passant dragon — an element of the Sammarinese coat of arms — is depicted in low relief. The circumferential legend reads REPUBBLICA DI SAN MARINO in Latin characters, and the date 1976 appears in the lower field below the rocky promontory. The engraver's signature is incised in the lower field.
