Additional information

Turkey's 1979 International Year of the Child issues were produced in standard and piedfort formats, the latter struck at double thickness on specially prepared planchets for presentation purposes. Piedforts of this period were almost exclusively sold directly to collectors and diplomats — virtually none entered circulation.

KM#P1 designates this as Turkey's first catalogued piedfort, a footnote worth noting for a mint that issued piedforts only sporadically.
