Opmerkingen

Myanmar's 1994–1995 500 Kyat issue came during a period when the State Law and Order Restoration Council — the military junta that had seized power in 1988 and renamed the country — was rebuilding the currency infrastructure after years of demonetization chaos. Ne Win's 1987 demonetization of the 25, 35, and 75 kyat notes had wiped out a significant portion of household savings overnight, and public confidence in paper currency remained fragile well into the 1990s.

A print run of just over 12 million is relatively modest for a high-denomination note, suggesting limited intended reach into daily commerce at a time when the parallel exchange rate diverged wildly from the official rate.
