Obverse description The Zambian coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield charged with wavy vertical bands representing the Victoria Falls, supported on the left by a Zambian man and on the right by a Zambian woman, both in traditional attire. An African fish eagle with outstretched wings surmounts the shield, and a scroll at the base bears the national motto ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION. The country name ZAMBIA arcs prominently along the upper legend in bold incuse lettering, while the denomination 500 KWACHA appears along the lower legend. The date 1994 is split by the shield, with 19 to the left and 94 to the right.
