Obverse description Diademed and draped right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, after the portrait by Raphael David Maklouf, set within a raised inner circle occupying the central field. The date is divided either side of the portrait, '20' to the left and '02' to the right. The legend 'BANK OF ZAMBIA' curves along the upper periphery, while the denomination '500 KWACHA' is inscribed along the lower periphery. The Zambian coat of arms appears in the lower central field between the portrait and the denomination.
