Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate tughra of Sultan Mehmed V, elegantly rendered within a wreath of olive and laurel branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow, above crossed flags and open books. A row of seven six-pointed stars arcs along the upper border, and the denomination 500 and regnal year 3 appear in Arabic numerals in the lower field.
