| Descripción del anverso | The right half of the obverse is dominated by an intaglio portrait vignette of a Faroese fisherman in traditional hooded oilskin, rendered in dark blue-purple on a light blue-green guilloche underprint. The large denomination numeral '500' and the text 'FIMM HUNDRAÐ KRÓNUR' appear in bold intaglio lettering to the left of the portrait, with a decorative rosette underprint behind them. The country name 'FØROYAR' is printed in the upper and lower borders, flanked by the value '500' at each corner, with the legal tender inscription and two facsimile signatures of the Ríkisumboðið and Føroya Landsstýri appearing in the lower centre. |

Ingálvur av Reyni was a Faroese painter of considerable reputation, and his involvement in designing Danish banknotes during this period gave the series an artistic character that set it apart from the more orthodox engraving-house aesthetics common elsewhere in Scandinavia. The second issue ran for sixteen years, an unusually long production span that required multiple print runs with minor variations — collectors distinguish between signature combinations corresponding to successive Nationalbank governors and chief cashiers, and these pairings affect scarcity more than most catalog entries acknowledge.
