Issued to mark the centenary of Niels Bohr's 1913 atomic model, this coin arrived exactly one hundred years after Bohr submitted his three-part paper to Philosophical Magazine — the work that introduced quantized electron orbits and broke decisively from classical physics. The timing was deliberate: Danmarks Nationalbank coordinated the release with the Niels Bohr Institute's own centenary program.
Bohr received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922 for this model, though by then he already knew it was incomplete.
