| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse features the national emblem of the Lao People's Democratic Republic prominently centered in the field, depicting That Luang stupa flanked by trees and a road in the foreground, all enclosed within a wreath of rice stalks and surmounted by a cogwheel, with a ribbon bearing the Lao inscription at the base. The legend 'THE LAO PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC' curves along the upper periphery in Latin script, while the denomination '500 KIP' appears in large letters at the bottom. The fineness notation '1 OZ' and 'Ag 999' are inscribed to the left and right respectively in the lower field. A beaded border runs along the inner rim, framing the entire composition. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Laos has issued a substantial number of bullion and collector-series wildlife coins since the 1990s, largely targeting the Southeast Asian and European collector markets rather than domestic circulation. The Indochinese tiger — a subspecies distinct from the Bengal and Amur populations — had an estimated wild population of fewer than 2,500 individuals at the time of this coin's issue, with Laos itself holding only a marginal remnant population concentrated near the Vietnamese border.
KM#178 is part of a broader wildlife series rather than a standalone commemorative, and most examples entered third-party slabs almost immediately upon release.
