Obverse description The national coat of arms of Suriname occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield supported by two indigenous figures standing as heraldic supporters, each facing inward. The shield bears a sailing ship on the dexter side and a palm tree with a star on the sinister side, separated by a horizontal wavy band. The motto legend JUSTITIA PIETAS FIDES appears on a scroll beneath the shield. The country name SURINAME is inscribed in bold letters along the lower arc of the field, and the entire composition is encircled by an ornate wreath of laurel branches.
