Descrizione del dritto	Pink and black intaglio-printed note with a central large Gothic-script denomination 'Fünfhundert Franken' and the issuer's name 'Die Bank in Luzern' at the top. Two oval portrait vignettes flank the central text: a laurel-wreathed female figure to the left and a bearded male figure to the right, with landscape vignettes in the lower corners and a reclining lion vignette at the bottom centre. Three signature lines are printed below the date 'Luzern, den 1. Januar 1877', assigned to 'Der Director', 'Der Präsident', and 'Der Cassier'.

Descrizione del rovescio	Printed in rose-red and grey on a white ground, the reverse is dominated by an elaborate central guilloche medallion enclosing a portrait vignette of a woman, surrounded by the curved inscriptions 'BANQUE' and 'LUCERNE'. Four corner medallions each bear the numeral '500', and the overall layout is composed of dense lathe-work guilloche patterns. The printer's imprint 'B.W. & Co. LONDON' appears at the lower right.
