Obverse description The obverse displays the coat of arms of the Republic of Cameroon at center, depicting a shield bearing scales of justice surmounted by a star, flanked by crossed fasces. The national motto appears in both French and English — PAIX / PEACE to the left and TRAVAIL / WORK above and PATRIE / FATHERLAND to the right — arranged around the arms. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN arcs across the top of the field, with 500 FRANCS CFA inscribed prominently along the lower portion. The date and the fineness mark Ag 999 appear within the field, and the entire design is rendered in gold-plated finish.

Reverse description The reverse features a full-color reproduction of a Renaissance-style painting of the Madonna and Child, set within a central circular cartouche. The Virgin Mary is depicted in three-quarter view, draped in a red garment and blue mantle, tenderly cradling the Christ Child who reaches up to embrace her face. A pastoral landscape with trees and a pale blue sky forms the background. The central scene is surrounded by an ornate raised border of acanthus leaves, floral motifs, and stylized fruit elements, all rendered in gold-plated relief, lending the design an elaborate decorative character consistent with devotional art traditions.
